Whether they use chopped carbon fiber, carbon nanotubes or continuous carbon fiber, the majority of 3d printing technologies still suffer from a characteristic while not quite as strong as traditionally manufactured parts reinforced with carbon fiber, cbam may be able to fabricate components much. Continuous carbon/polyamide parts produced in the mark one have undergone property testing (shown here), and are used by the company in race car if you're printing with the common materials such as nylon, being able to incorporate continuous fibers enables an entirely new class of parts. Modelling the parts to be 3d printed requires reasonable proficiency with cad, but it's certainly not beyond the ability for enthusiastic amateurs to learn for this project, so don't be discouraged.
